[The feed clicks on to Lithuania, holding a bouquet of yellow flowers in his lap, careful to not damage them.]

Whoever sent those to me, thank you.

[He gently caresses the flowers with one hand looking down at them.]

They are really wonderful.

Of course! I'll make you haleem and naan! Or um, I could make you curry if you'd like that better. Of kebabs or palao...or biryani.... [She trails off in thought. She wants to make whatever he would like best so that he'll be impressed with her house's food.]

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-02-19 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know any of those names... You could just make your favorite food?

[identity profile] pakisunotpaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-19 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright! It's too bad you weren't here at Eid. I made a lot of different things then.

What are your favorite foods from your house?

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-02-19 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Imagine a list here of stuff because I honestly have no idea what they had in his time. Almost all the Lithuanian food that I know is made with something that they didn't have back then.] And bread. It's very basic, but you can take it with you easily and put everything on it.

What is Eid?

[identity profile] pakisunotpaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-19 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Naan is like that, too. It's a kind of bread.

Eid al-Adha is the day when we celebrate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in an act of obedience to Allah. Traditionally, we sacrifice a sheep and share out the meat. Since we didn't have any needy or relatives to portion it out to here, I cooked it and shared it with anyone who wanted some.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-02-19 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to try Naan, then.

That sounds a lot like the story about Ishaak and Abram that Poland told me. But I've never heard about a celebration like that.

[identity profile] pakisunotpaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-19 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Well Poland is Catholic, right? Most of my people are Muslim, and we share a lot of the same stories.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-02-19 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
He is Christian. I'm sorry, I don't know much about your religion, maybe you could tell me more about it one day?

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-02-19 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I could tell you about my old religion too, if you'd like to hear it. If not it is alright, too.

[identity profile] pakisunotpaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-19 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'd like to! I um...I don't know a lot about your place. So I'd like to learn more.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'd really like to tell you more.

[With Poland he usually only listens to what Poland's religion and fashion and language and music ... is like. It's a nice change to have someone who's interested in his own things.]

[identity profile] pakisunotpaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'll cook for you and we can eat together and talk about our homes!

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds lovely.

When would you like to do that?

[identity profile] pakisunotpaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Tomorrow? It will take me about six hours to make the haleem.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds good to me. Around four?

[identity profile] pakisunotpaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Okay! I'll make sure everything is ready by then.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be there. Should I bring anything?

[identity profile] pakisunotpaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
No, no! I'll take care of everything!

[identity profile] pakisunotpaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'll see you then!
