video; backdated to shortly after Meriken's "let's find America a date" post.

Are there really no simple social rules in the future that people do still follow?

Perhaps, but kids don't ask permission anymore.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
What would that be, in your time?

That doesn't matter.

[identity profile] idkmybfftony.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, a lot of my people go on dates, see how they get along together. Sometimes they move in together before hand, but it always depends. Then they get married and have kids, or adopt.

It... is different, though. I mean, I never tried to court a nation before... don't bosses decide that?

[ Horrified silence. And mental refined facepalm. ]

Depends on which Nation you're talking about. France is famous for that. I don't whore myself around, for one.

Parents have gotten that unimportant?

[What happened to the forth commandment ;;]

But- But he's Christian!

[Has been Christian for longer than most other nations.]

[identity profile] 2ndhandlion.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's not that they're unimportant, but they aren't the one's getting married. Usually, he sign that dating has become serious, is when the prospective man is brought to meet the girl's parents.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
...So it is to, finally, get married?

I'm not sure, they aren't here, at least. Most bosses, that is. I think I spoke to one of Prussia's bosses a while ago. ...I guess we would have to ask them, like children ask their parents?

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Imagines dating to be "meet to wander over the field and have a nice conversation", btw. Kissing clearly isn't involved before one is engaged.]

And the other way round?

[identity profile] 2ndhandlion.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
The boy's parents might become involved, but I guess people are just more protective of their daughters.

[identity profile] idkmybfftony.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah. People continue to fight for the right to get married every day by me! Its a big deal!

I... guess? I don't know, I never even really thought about it.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
They usually are the ones who give their child away, after all.

[identity profile] 2ndhandlion.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's more tradition. Women can lead their own lives.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
...What do you mean by that?

[Voice]

[identity profile] crymogaea.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ Long pause. ]

See, uh, in the future, religion doesn't matter much. Unless you were talking about Vatican... Who is this Nation you're talking about, actually?

[ He's uh...pretty sketchy on religion, actually. It's most likely that he's an Agnostic. ]

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
The "right to get married"? Why wouldn't they be allowed to?

[...Maybe if they are from different social classes, or of course different denominations, or something like that?]

...I've been thinking a lot about it lately.

[identity profile] 2ndhandlion.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
women can't be given away, because there father's can't really won them, even if they think they do.

[Voice]

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
...How can it not?

[OxO There has never been a time when religion didn't count. Because it was never that much of a personal thing as it is now. Thus Lithuania is just ...don't those people care for their nations anymore?]

The one who brought this up? Meriken. The other America.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
They would still marry into the husband's family.

[identity profile] 2ndhandlion.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's really just a name. Titles, as such, don't have meaning anymore in most of the world.

[Says the guy who married a princess... but he beat the crap out of her betrothed and they eloped so it's different...]

[identity profile] idkmybfftony.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
The church has a problem with same sex marriage. I don't have a problem with it! I mean it says in my constitution that 'all men are created equal'! So it shouldn't be an issue!

...oh? Yeah, me too. Though its other people who keep bringing it up.

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
But everyone here said that it was alright, and alright with the church as well!

Well, I ...you know that I was dating Pakistan for a while?

[identity profile] watchful-knight.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
Does family have any meaning there?
